HELMUT ZEPF
CRAFT SINCE 1921
About the company
Helmut Zepf Medizintechnik, founded in 1921 in Germany, is a reference name in the production of high-quality medical and surgical instruments. With a tradition of more than 100 years and four generations of innovation, the company has dedicated itself to the needs of doctors around the world.
Innovation and Quality
Known for their precision and durability, Helmut Zepf tools are designed to provide maximum comfort and efficiency in use. The products are manufactured in Germany, guaranteeing superior standards of quality and reliability.
Company history
Professor Ferdinand Sauerbruch – His specially developed surgical methods made him famous throughout the world. As a surgeon, he had very clear ideas about the characteristics and quality of his surgical instruments. And in this regard, it was no easy feat to always meet Sauerbruch's high standards.
The famous surgeon turned to the instrument manufacturer Zepf in Seitingen, then still in its infancy, to make the desired surgical instruments and special prototypes for his prostheses. Isidor Zepf, who founded the enterprise in 1921, and his daughter Rosa (probably one of the first women to create surgical instruments) succeeded in making these products in accordance with the wishes and ideas of the Berlin professor.
This cooperation, truly unusual at the time, formed the basis for the successful development of Zepf in Seitingen. And it demonstrates what is still a habit for Zepf today: to be able to innovate in the field of medical instruments and develop them in cooperation with renowned doctors. From its humble beginnings, the craft industry began to grow to meet a growing demand for medical instruments.
Over the following decades, Helmut Zepf senior and Helmut Zepf junior transformed the company into a leading manufacturer of dental instruments in Germany. Today, in the fourth generation and run by Patrick Zepf, they are still a family business. Their decisions are still based on strict adherence to the core standards of the Zepf quality criteria and a deep desire to innovate. A family needs a home. For Zepf, this is clearly Seitingen-Oberflacht, which has been their home since 1921.
There they can rely on the technical expertise of their employees, many of whom have remained loyal to the company for decades, as this particular part of the southern German state of Baden-Württemberg is known as the home of a spirit of inventors and professionals who find solutions to all the trials to which they are subjected.
Tuttlingen and the surrounding region have established themselves as a world center of medical technology to this day, not least due to the qualification of well-trained specialists. Companies like Helmut Zepf have characterized this distinction for over a century.

DESIGN
Technicians and engineers specialized in the manufacture of surgical devices are the spearhead of the company. They make the connection between the partners' needs and what is technically feasible.
PRESSING / STAMPING
Pressing and stamping in our own tool shop are an important part of our production.
We specialize in small sheet metal parts such as springs, impression spoons and handles.
TEMPERING TECHNOLOGIES
Our own tempering workshop is a guarantee of our quality and flexibility. Continuous, cycled, vacuum ovens and shock cooling systems are used, adapted to medical products and the requirements of our customers.
FINISHING
By finishing we mean vibratory grinding, vibratory polishing, electropolishing and passivation. We have several systems available for this purpose for the respective surfaces and material combinations. As a medical device manufacturer, we need these validated processes as work steps to keep quality under our own control.
PRECISION / CRAFTSMANSHIP
The qualification of our employees in the field of fine processing is the basis of our quality.
